How Does It Work?

Our ceramic membranes leverage their naturally hydrophilic properties to effectively filter water. A slight vacuum is applied (0.1-0.2 bar), drawing water through the membrane’s pores. Thanks to the hydrophilic nature of ceramics, organic contaminants such as oils are repelled, allowing only water to pass through while solids, pathogens, and other impurities are retained on the surface.

Modular Design

Each membrane module is crafted with precision and includes:

 •  A membrane module

 •  A top permeate module

 •  A bottom diffuser case module

These modules can be stacked to create flexible filtration systems, offering unparalleled adaptability for diverse water treatment needs.

Applications

Aqueous Italy’s ceramic membranes serve a wide range of applications across both municipal and industrial sectors. Their high durability and resilience make them ideal for handling challenging water sources, removing solids, toxic pollutants, and pathogens to produce safe, clean water.

Manufacturing Process

Ceramic membranes are known for their exceptional strength, durability, and chemical resistance, making them ideal for demanding filtration applications. Our meticulous manufacturing process ensures the highest quality:

 1.  Raw Materials: High-grade clay and other ceramic materials are combined to form the base of our membranes, utilizing a process that ensures consistency and quality.

 2.  Formation: The ceramic mixture is extruded into precise membrane shapes, forming a robust substrate.

 3.  Sintering: The substrate is fired at temperatures exceeding 1,200°C to solidify the ceramic structure, creating a highly durable and porous membrane.

 4.  Assembly: The ceramic plates are assembled into modules, which can be stacked or configured to meet the specific requirements of each project.

Operation & Maintenance

To maintain optimal performance, our ceramic membranes are periodically backwashed, dislodging any solids that have accumulated. In certain applications, air bubbling between the membrane plates can enhance cleaning, and spray washes are used for quick, effective removal of fouling. The modular design of our ceramic membranes allows for scalable configurations that fit a variety of basin sizes and project requirements.

Why Choose Ceramic Membranes?

Ceramic membranes provide unmatched thermal and chemical stability, making them more durable than traditional polymeric membranes. They are resistant to extreme temperatures and aggressive chemical environments, ensuring long-lasting performance with minimal maintenance. This makes Aqueous Italy’s solutions perfect for industries where durability and reliability are paramount.
